Because rabies can be transmitted from animals to man, it’s important to keep your dog (and other mammals) current on his rabies vaccination. This protects you, your pets and your community. If you find wildlife or stray pets on your property, contact your local animal control office right away. If you are bitten, wash bite wounds with soap and water and seek medical attention immediately. If your pet is bitten, consult your veterinarian right away. Know the requirements in your community for rabies certification for your pets. Some animal shelters offer rabies vaccines at low cost as a public health service.
