Puppy House Training: For Everyone's Peace Of Mind

It's one thing for them to poop on floors that you can mop down but the moment they pee on your expensive rugs and seats and stain them with something that you can't wash off without destroying the color of the item, it's time that you begin puppy house training procedures. So, how do you get your puppy to stop relieving themselves all over the place? It all comes down to one word: discipline. You need to teach them where they can do their business and where they can't. If you do not, you are going to be sorry that you didn't. It seems like a lot of hard work to do it, but you will thank yourself when the procedure is done with. Dogs will pick up on the instructions pretty quickly if they are repeated over and over and you can deal with removing all of the improper actions that you do not want to encourage when you are going to train them properly. If those broad strokes are not enough for you, here are more specific instructions that you can follow:

Make sure that your dog has easy access to the area. Once they are trained well, they can act on their own to make sure that they will relieve themselves in the right place.

1. Keep a schedule of when you feed them and give them water. This is something that owners forget to do when they want to train their pet - there are specific digestion times that you have to be aware of so you know when to take them to the spot and not a moment sooner or later.

2. In order to encourage them to continue the practice of doing it outside, it is a good idea to give them a reward for when they do it. Remember that they are going to feed off of your reinforcements and if you make sure that they get the picture that peeing outside is what you want them to do, they are going to keep doing it on their own.

Remember also that scolding and physical harm is not going to do anything. In fact it might even be detrimental to the dog and might instill fear and panic, not very good traits for a well-trained dog.

3. At the end of the day, all that matters is your dog knows where to park their poop and you would not need to stress yourself with finding a very strong cleaning agent that will not bleach the color out of your fabrics and have you smelling like a hospital.
